FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Setting the Pitch
The Canisius men's soccer team returns to the Demske Sports Complex, facing fellow Empire State foe Binghamton. Kickoff for Saturday's match is slated for 7 p.m.

2. Last Time Out
Juniors Ryan Dagelman and Noah Hodson netted their first collegiate goals to avenge a pair of early St. Bonaventure tallies in a 2-2 draw last Friday in Olean.

Graduate transfer William Howard made his first collegiate start, registering a career-high 10 saves in the contest. Six of Howard's 10 stops came in the first 45 minutes of the double overtime contest.

Dagelman's goal came in the 65th minute on a feed from Riley Wagner, who placed a high-arching ball over a pair of St. Bonaventure players deep in its defensive zone. After gaining control of the ball, Dagelman placed his shot to the far-side bottom corner of the goal.

Hodson's game-tying tally came in the 77th minute as St. Bonaventure's goalkeeper stopped his first shot during a breakaway chance, but Hodson regained control of the ball, placing the equalizer into the goal. Freshman Reilly Boyer was credited with an assist, giving him his first collegiate point.

3. Needing Extra Time
Canisius' first three matches of the season have all gone to overtime, which is the first time that has happened since 2011. It is the fifth occasion in program history that the Griffs have played three consecutive overtime contests. The other three instances occurred in 1995, the last two games of the 1999 campaign and the 2000 season-opener and 2009.

If Saturday's contest goes to overtime, it will mark the first time the team has played four consecutive overtime contests in program history.

4. Howard's Career Day
William Howard
recorded Canisius' first double-digit save performance since Bryce Tramuta stopped 10 shots at Iona on Sept. 29, 2018.

Howard also stopped a first half penalty kick, the first time a Canisius goalkeeper stopped a penalty since Tramuta did so on Oct. 6, 2018.

5. Saving the Day
In the latest NCAA statistical report, Canisius goalkeeping leads the MAAC and is tied for fourth in the nation in saves per game (7.00) with Yale. Niagara is just behind in second in the MAAC with 6.75 saves per contest.

VCU currently leads all Division I programs with an average of 9.33 stops per contest. Harvard and Howard are currently tied for second (8.0).
