• Griffs Closing Out 10-Game Homestand
The Canisius baseball team will close out its 10-game homestand with a midweek doubleheader against Saint Peter's on Wednesday at the Demske Sports Complex. The first pitch for the twin bill is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Canisius' homestand is the longest for the Griffs since the program played 11 straight games on home turf during the 1990 season from April 25 to May 6.

• Take Me Home
Graduate student Jake Burlingame has been on a tear at home this season. The graduate student is batting .447 (17-for-38) with three doubles, two triples and four home runs in 12 games on home turf.

He leads the team in multiple batting categories in home contests, including runs (16), hits (17), doubles, home runs, slugging percentage (.947), RBI (15) and stolen bases (3). Burlingame is tied with redshirt senior Gibson Krzeminski and fellow graduate student Jacob Victor for the team lead in triples (2).

• Winning Formula
Canisius has had vast success both at the plate and on the mound in its 14 victories this season. The Griffs are batting .322 with 44 extra-base hits and a .933 OPS when coming away with a win. The team has 24 doubles, 11 triples and nine home runs in those contests.

Opponents are hitting just .190 off Canisius pitching when the Griffs win, as the staff has compiled a 2.11 ERA and 1.05 WHIP.

In losses, Canisius is batting .213 with a .605 OPS, while the pitching staff has a combined 6.53 ERA and a WHIP of 1.58. Opponents are also batting .306 off Canisius when the Griffs lose.

• Hold the Phone
Graduate students Kyle Warner and Will Frank each recorded their second complete games of the season against Quinnipiac last weekend. The duo became the first pair of Canisius pitchers to log multiple complete games in a single season since Alex Godzak (4) and Rohn Pierce (3) in 2014.

• Take a Walk
Canisius drew a program-record 16 walks in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader that was suspended and finished on Monday due to unplayable field conditions. The previous program-high of 13 was set last season in a 20-7 victory over UMass Lowell on Feb. 15, 2020. The 16 walks are tied for the ninth-most free passes drawn by a Division I team this year.

The Griffs have five games with at least nine walks this season, while it was just the second time drawing at least 10. The other double-figure walk total also occurred in a mercy-rule shortened contest against Manhattan (12) on April 11.
