Canisius Game Notes

Five Things to Know
1. Back in Action
This past Saturday's season opener was the first game for Canisius in 361 days. The Griffs travel to face fellow MAAC opponent Quinnipiac Friday afternoon. Canisius is looking for its first conference victory since April 17, 2019 when they defeated "Battle of the Bridge" rival Niagara, by a 12-11 margin.

2. Series History
The Blue & Gold lead the all-time series between the Golden Griffins and the Bobcats 5-4. Canisius' last win on the road against Quinnipiac was April 14, 2018, with the Griffs winning by a margin of 12-7.

3. Davis'
Debut
Freshman midfielder Riley Davis scored the first three collegiate goals of her career Saturday, as the Golden Griffins traveled to face MAAC foe Siena for a two-game series. Davis, a native of Painted Post, N.Y., finished the first contest with three goals, including the game-tying goal with two seconds left to send the game to overtime. In the second matchup, Davis would net a goal and dish out an assist, to finish her opening weekend with four goals and one helper.

4. Gilbert in Goal

Lauren Gilbert stopped 10 shots against Siena on Saturday, in the 6-5 overtime loss to the Saints. The ten saves by Gilbert marked the third double-digit save performance of her collegiate career.

5. Stachura's Career Day

Sophomore Paige Stachura posted the first career hat trick of her collegiate career Sunday, recording three goals to go along with one assist. Prior to Sunday, the Orillia, Ontario, native had one multi-goal game, on March 7, 2020 against Albany, when she netted two goals. Stachura is now one of six active Griffs with a hat trick to their credit.
