FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Opening Tip
Canisius concludes its three-game Empire State road trip Wednesday with a meeting against Big Four rival St. Bonaventure. Tipoff from the Reilly Center in Olean is scheduled for 6 p.m.

2. Series History
Canisius and St. Bonaventure are meeting for the 53rd time this evening, the most games against any non-conference opponent.

St. Bonaventure has a slight 27-25 advantage in the series, despite Canisius having won three of the last four contests.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two schools did not play during the 2020-21 season, snapping a 16-year streak of playing each other. It was the first time the two schools did not play since the 2003-04 season.

3. Two Years to the Day…
Two years ago, in the last meeting between the two Western New York rivals, Canisius rallied from an 11-point deficit with 4:49 remaining to defeat the Bonnies, 84-82, at the Koessler Athletic Center.

Then-senior D'Jhai Patterson-Ricks poured in a career-high 27 points to lead the Griffs to their comeback victory.

Patterson-Ricks stole the ball from St. Bonaventure with 16 seconds remaining, running down the floor and netting the game-winning layup. Canisius then forced a three-pointer that the Bonnies missed which resulted in a Tiana Pugh free throw to close out the contest.

4. Haskell's Career Day
Sophomore guard Dani Haskell scored a career-high 25 points in Saturday's loss at Binghamton. The 25 points scored is tied for the most points scored by a player in the MAAC this season, tying Marist's Kiara Fisher.

Haskell's 25-point performance was Canisius' first such game since Danielle Sanderlin netted 30 points in Feb. 2020 against Saint Peter's.

Should Haskell eclipse the 20-point threshold Wednesday, she would be the first player to record back-to-back 20-point games for the Griffs since D'Jhai Patterson-Ricks (1/18/20 at Quinnipiac — 23; 1/23/20 at Rider — 25).

No Canisius player has scored 25-plus points in back-to-back games since Jénel Stevens logged three consecutive 25-plus-point games (1/19/03 vs. Iona — 25; 1/21/03 at Niagara — 36; 1/24/03 at Marist — 25).

5. We've Been Everywhere
Wednesday concludes the Griffs' seven-game road trip, which began after the team's pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season ended on a four-game road swing.

Canisius' seven consecutive games away from the Koessler Athletic Center is tied for the ninth-longest road trip in program history. It is the longest streak of consecutive games away from home since playing eight straight road or neutral site contests spanning the 2008-09 (last three games) and 2009-10 (first five games) campaigns.

The team's home opener this Saturday (Nov. 20) will be the first home game in nearly a full calendar year (349 days), since hosting crosstown rival Buffalo on Dec. 6, 2020 to open the 2020-21 season. It will also mark the first game Canisius will play in front of fans at the Koessler Athletic Center in 623 days (March 7, 2020 vs. Quinnipiac).
