FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Setting the Pitch
The Canisius men's soccer team travels east on Interstate 90 to face off against MAAC rival Siena on Wednesday from Hickey Field in Loudonville, N.Y. First touch is slated for 2 p.m.

2. Last Time Out
Four different Rider players scored goals as the Broncs defeated Canisius, 4-1, last Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex.

Rider scored the game's first two goals, as Matt Araujo (21st minute) and Sergio Aguinaga (36th minute) were credited with the tallies.

In the 56th minute, freshman Kodie Sarkodie cut Rider's lead in half as his header off a Jo Preci corner kick found the back of the net. Sarkodie broke through Rider's defense, heading Preci's cross toward the far corner of the goal. It was Sarkodie's first collegiate tally and point.

Five minutes later, Lenny Cidolit gave Rider its two-goal lead back as Adel Al-Masude's corner kick lofted over four Canisius defenders, landing on Cidolit's right foot. Cidolit one-timed the pass into the top-left corner of the net.

Zaki Alibou added an insurance marker for the Broncs in the 82nd minute, sending his left-footed shot into the far bottom corner of the goal.

Canisius goalkeeper William Howard made four saves for the Griffs, while Alessio Atzori established career highs in shot attempts (5) and shots on goal (3) in the contest.

3. Series History
Today marks the 34th all-time meeting between the two New York schools.

Siena holds the lead in the series, 19-11-3, including an 11-3-2 mark on home field.

4. Spreading the Wealth
Canisius has had its 16 goals scored on the season come from 10 different players. The 10 Golden Griffin scorers is the most in a single season since the Griffs also had 10 individual goal scorers net the team's 24 goals in 2015.

5. Leading the Nation
Canisius' goalkeeping has been strong in net this season, averaging 6.07 saves per contest, which paces all Division I programs. VMI trails Canisius, having the second-highest average (5.88).

William Howard currently leads all Division I goalkeepers this season with his 6.17 saves per game average. Over his 12 appearances this season, Howard has stopped 74 shots. St. Bonaventure's Trevor Wilson currently assumes second place in the nation, trailing Howard with his 5.88 saves per contest average (47 saves in eight matches).
