MAAC 40th Anniversary – Volleyball

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) celebrates its 40th Anniversary throughout the 2020-21 academic year, continuing its mission to provide student-athletes the opportunity to succeed in both academics and athletics.

The 40th Anniversary Volleyball Team highlights some of the best student-athletes in MAAC history. MAAC Volleyball traces back to 1990, where Saint Peter's University captured the first MAAC Championship over La Salle. Since the inaugural campaign, Fairfield University leads the conference with 11 championships overall, followed by Siena College with nine and Niagara University with three.

The five former Griffs honored on the MAAC 40th Anniversary Team are Mary Boller '07, Jessica (Stackhouse) Bramer '08, Erin (Oveis) Brant '00, Samantha Good '12 and Leah Simmons '20.

Volleyball Honorees
The 2003 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Mary Boller was a two-time All-MAAC selection, garnering All-MAAC First Team accolades as during 2006 season that saw her post the second-most kills in an individual campaign (441) … The program's record holder for career attack percentage (among players with 500 kills) at 30.9 percent, Boller also ranks fourth in school history in career kills with 1,286 … Jessica (Stackhouse) Bramer was a three-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Year selection, one of two players in league history to hold that distinction … A two-time All-MAAC honoree, Bramer was the first volleyball player in MAAC history to record 2,000 career digs as she graduated as the program's all-time leader in that category … The 2007 Canisius Female Athlete of the Year, Bramer was inducted into the Canisius Sports Hall of Fame in 2018 … Erin (Oveis) Brant earned four varsity letters as a member of the Canisius volleyball program from 1996-99… She finished her career as the school's career leader in kills, kills per set and digs, and she still holds the program record with 1,483 total kills... She was inducted into the Canisius Sports Hall of Fame in 2001… The first player in program history to be named to the All-MAAC First Team twice in her career, Samantha Good ended her Canisius career ranked fifth in kills (1,176), fourth in attack percentage (.297) and fifth in blocks (397) … The 2010 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, Good is the only player in school history to earn All-MAAC distinction all four years of her Canisius career … The 2019-20 Canisius Female Athlete of the Year, Leah Simmons garnered All-MAAC First Team accolades during her junior and senior seasons … Simmons finished her career with the sixth-most block assists (255) and 10th-most total blocks (292) in school history … She completed her career with the eight-best career hitting percentage in Canisius history (.230) and finished 11th in program history with 1,028 career kills.
