MAAC Announces 2019-20 Basketball Broadcast Schedule

The 2019-20 men's and women's basketball television schedule for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) features six ESPNU contests during the regular season, starting Jan. 9, the conference announced Monday.

During the regular season four Fridays (Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28) will feature a men's basketball matchup on ESPNU. Those four Fridays can have any game on the MAAC schedule flexed on to ESPNU as the MAAC Wildcard Game. The Golden Griffins are a part of three of those Friday flex game opportunities (Feb. 7 at Rider, Feb. 14 at home vs. Monmouth and Feb. 21 at Quinnipiac).

ESPN and the MAAC will announce the Wildcard Game 21 days prior to the game. The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU and allows the MAAC and ESPN the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses.

Last season, the Griffs appeared in a program-record six nationally-televised games during the regular-season and MAAC Championship in Albany, N.Y., including the March 1 win over Siena at home. That game against the Saints marked the first time Canisius hosted an ESPNU contest in the Koessler Athletic Center since the 2013-14 campaign.

In 2020, the MAAC Basketball Championships will be at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., March 10-14. The men's basketball championship semifinals will air on ESPNews March 13 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The MAAC Men's Basketball Championship Game is scheduled to air live on ESPNU on March 14 at 4 p.m. The remainder of the MAAC Championships games will air on ESPN3.

Canisius' full ESPN broadcast schedule for both the men's and women's basketball teams will be announced in the near future. The 2019-20 season will mark the fifth year where the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network will produce home basketball games for distribution on either ESPN3 or ESPN+.
