Five Things to Know - Women's Lacrosse Travels to Poughkeepsie Wednesday

1. All-Time Against the Red Foxes
• Canisius and Marist will square off for the 30th time Wednesday afternoon, with the Red Foxes holding a 13-16 series advantage over the Golden Griffins. Canisius is 5-9 all-time in Poughkeepsie, including a 2-1 record in postseason play. The Griffs are currently riding a seven-game win streak over the Red Foxes, highlighted by a 13-11 upset win in last season's MAAC semifinal game.
 
2. Joining Elite Company
• Sophomore netminder Lauren Gilbert recorded 20 saves in Canisius' double-overtime loss to Quinnipiac, tying the single-game program record. Gilbert joins Rebecca VanLaeken (at Northwestern, 2/10/18) and Allison Daley (at Siena, 4/16/10) as the only Griffs to reach the 20-save plateau.
 
3. Since the Start of MAAC Play
• After the first three conference games of the season, the Blue and Gold are among the MAAC leaders in multiple statistical categories. The Griffs rank first in the MAAC in assists (6.33), points (19.33) and saves per game (12.67), as well as shot percentage (.494). Canisius also ranks third in conference play with 13.00 goals per game.  
 
4. Team Effort Against Quinnipiac
• Five Golden Griffins recorded multiple goals against the Bobcats, led by freshman Katie Smolensky with three. Sophomores Marissa Malvaso and Miranda Malvaso, along with junior Bryar Cummings and graduate-student Rachel Heidenreich each tallied two goals against the Bobcats.
 
5. Scouting the Opposition
• Marist enters Wednesday 4-7 overall, and 1-2 in MAAC play following back-to-back losses against Manhattan and Monmouth. The Red Foxes' are led by Samantha Mehalik who has scored a league-leading 40 goals on the year. In net for Marist is reigning MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year, Delaney Galvin. Galvin currently ranks fourth among conference goalies with 8.36 saves per game.
