Series History: Canisius leads, 16-10

1. Battle of the Bridge
• Canisius and Niagara renew the annual "Battle of the Bridge", Wednesday night from the Demske Sports Complex in downtown Buffalo. The all-time series dates back to the Blue and Gold's inaugural season of 1998 and the Golden Griffins hold a 16-10 advantage over the Purple Eagles. Canisius has won the previous 16 games against Niagara, including two wins in 2018, highlighted by a 17-7 win in the MAAC Quarterfinals.

2. Playoff Hopes on the Line
• Canisius enters play with a chance to make the conference championships for the 12th-straight season. To do so, the Griffs must win their final two league games versus Niagara and Fairfield, and have Quinnipiac drop its final MAAC contest with Monmouth this Saturday.

3. Six Points Away from History
• Senior Jourdan Roemer currently has 246 career points, tying the attack for second all-time with Erica Evans and sitting just six points away from surpassing Tori Quinn (251) for the Canisius record. The reigning MAAC Midfielder of the Year currently has 50 points this season on 34 goals and 16 assists. Roemer (98) is also six assists shy of surpassing Lauren Walsh (103) for the Blue and Gold career assists record.

4. Sophomore Standout
•  Sophomore Marissa Malvaso has had a breakout season during her second season on Main Street. Her 22 goals, 13 assists, 35 points, 59 shots, and 24 ground balls all rank second on the team. Marissa is also tied for the team lead with six free-position goals.

5. Scouting the Purple Eagles
• Niagara enters play with a 2-4 league mark, and similar to Canisius have MAAC playoff implications on the line with just two conference games remaining. The Purple and White are led by midfielder Rachel MacCheyne who has 71 points on the season on 58 goals and 13 helpers. MacCheyne sits just four goals shy of tying former Griff Erica Evans' MAAC career goals record of 186 career tallies. In the cage, Michelle Messenger and Maren Geiger have split the majority of playing time between the pipes, with Messenger being the better of the two as she carries a .452 save percentage and 12.78 goals against average on the season.
