2019 All-WNY Player of the Year Danielle Haskell Signs NLI with Women's Basketball

Canisius women's basketball head coach Scott Hemer has announced the signing of Danielle Haskell to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday afternoon.

"We're very excited to add such a prolific scorer from Western New York to our Canisius family," noted Hemer. "Dani's ability to score at multiple levels and her strong basketball IQ will be a great addition to our backcourt."

A two-time New York State Player of the Year and 2019 All-Western New York Player of the Year, Haskell enters her senior season at Franklinville Central with 2,750 career points. As a junior, the guard averaged 28.5 points, eight rebounds and seven assists per game for the Panthers. Haskell was also named league MVP the last three seasons.

A two-sport athlete at Franklinville Central, Haskell comes from a basketball family as her father, Jeff, played basketball at RIT and her cousins, Joelle Connelly and Sam Kuhn, played at Temple and LIU Post, respectively. Her aunts, Laura Kopp (Penn State) and Deb Connelly (St. Bonaventure), also played collegiate basketball.

Canisius women's basketball hosts St. Bonaventure for its home opener on Sunday, Nov. 17. The game is set for a 6 p.m. tip on ESPN3.
