Large to participate in Real Men Wear Pink Campaign

BUFFALO - Canisius head hockey coach Trevor Large has joined a distinguished group of community leaders in Western New York who will be participating in Real Men Wear Pink, an initiative of the American Cancer Society that engages men in the fight against breast cancer.

Real Men Wear Pink participants have committed to wearing pink throughout the month of October, while raising donations to support the American Cancer Society in its battle against breast cancer. Large will be wearing pink for all five home games through the month of October. On Saturday, Oct. 21, Canisius will "pink-out" KeyBank Rink in HARBORCENTER when the Golden Griffins play host to Colgate.

"I am honored and excited to take part in the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign this October," Large said. "I look forward to the opportunity to extend the progress that Dave Smith initiated last year and elevate the response for this worthy cause. I intend to aid the American Cancer Society in its fight to create awareness and hope to all of those affected by this terrible disease by being a Real Man Wearing Pink."

Anyone who makes a donation of $100 or more to Large's campaign will receive four tickets to the Oct. 21 contest against the Raiders. To support to Large's Real Men Wear Pink fundraising campaign, click here.

Additionally, any fans who purchase tickets for the Canisius vs. Colgate hockey game on Oct. 21 through this link will have $3 of each ticket purchase donated to the American Cancer Society.

This year, approximately 240,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Often, the primary caregivers assisting these women are husbands, brothers, fathers and sons. In addition, 2,600 men will also be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and will fight their own battles. The American Cancer Society is determined to save lives from breast cancer by promoting early detection and prevention, funding groundbreaking research, and giving patients support wherever and whenever they need it.

Canisius' chapter Against Cancer group will be decorating the KeyBank Rink in HARBORCENTER on Oct. 21. All proceeds from the "Chuck-a-Puck" promotion that night will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
