Former Griff Conacher Re-Signs with Lightning

BUFFALO – Former Canisius standout Cory Conacher '11 has re-signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team announced Wednesday.
 
The two-year contract is a one-way deal during the first season and a two-way agreement for the second year.
 
Conacher skated in 11 games with the Lightning last season, recording a goal and three assists for four points. He also appeared in 56 games with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, notching 17 goals and 60 points. Conacher ranked eighth in the AHL for assists and tied for eighth for points during the regular season. He was tied for the team lead for points, second in assists and third in goals.
 
Conacher also played in 22 games in helping the Crunch advance to the Calder Cup Finals in 2017, pacing Syracuse with 12 goals, four power-play goals and 28 points during the postseason. Conacher also led the Calder Cup Playoffs in goals and points.
 
A native of Burlington, Ontario, Conacher originally signed as a free agent with the Bolts on March 3, 2012. He has skated in 152 career NHL games with Tampa Bay, Ottawa, Buffalo and the New York Islanders since making his NHL debut, posting 20 goals and 62 points to go along with 88 penalty minutes.
 
The 27-year old has also appeared in 222 career American Hockey League games, recording 84 goals and 213 points. In 2011-12, Conacher led the Lightning's then-top affiliate Norfolk Admirals to a Calder Cup Championship and was awarded the Les Cunningham Award as the AHL's regular season MVP after registering 39 goals, 14 power-play goals and 80 points. 
 
In his four-year career with the Griffs (2007-11), Conacher set or matched 12 career, single-season and single-game records. The 2009-10 Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year owns the program's standards of 147 points, 62 goals and 12 game-winning tallies. He also set the school's records with 53 points and 33 assists during his junior campaign, while breaking the goals mark with 23 in his senior year.
 
Conacher was also selected to the all-conference team on two occasions during his career, earning first-team honors during the 2009-10 campaign and second-team accolades the next season. He was also named to the Atlantic Hockey All-10th-Anniversary First Team as well as one of the top-30 players in the NCAA the previous 10 seasons in 2013.
