Griff Standout Conacher '11 Returns to the NHL

The most decorated player in program history, Cory Conacher '11 returned to the team where he first broke into the National Hockey League, signing a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday.

In his four-year standout career with the Griffs, Conacher set or matched 12 career, single-season and single-game records. The 2009-10 Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year owns the program's standards of 147 points, 62 goals and 12 game-winning tallies. He also set the school's records with 53 points and 33 assists during his junior campaign, while breaking the goals mark with 23 in his senior year.

Conacher was also selected to the all-conference team on two occasions during his career, earning first-team honors during the 2009-10 campaign and second-team accolades the next season. He was also named to the Atlantic Hockey All-10th-Anniversary First Team as well as one of the top 30 players in the NCAA the previous 10 seasons in 2013.

A native of Burlington, Ontario, Conacher spent time with four NHL franchises during his professional career – Tampa Bay, Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders. He has appeared in 141 career NHL games with 58 points and 19 goals, highlighted by a 24-point rookie campaign with the Lightning during the 2012-13 campaign.

Conacher spent the 2015-16 season with SC Bern of the Swiss A-League, collecting a team-best 52 points and 22 goals in his first season with the club. He helped the squad to the National League A title, while also playing for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup – leading the team to a title and earning tournament all-star team honors.
