Kevin Bleeker Earns MAAC All-Academic Honors

Canisius senior center Kevin Bleeker was one of 17 men's basketball players to be named to the 2015-16 MAAC All-Academic Team, the conference office announced today. This marks the second consecutive year where Bleeker has been honored as a member of the conference's top academic all-star unit.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

Bleeker played in and started all 33 games in 2015-16, where he averaged a career best 6.8 points per game to go with 5.0 rebounds per contest. He recorded two double-doubles in his final season as a Griff, and he scored a career-high 19 points in the team's loss at Fairfield Jan. 29. During his career in Blue and Gold, the Alkmaar, Netherlands native played in 113 career games, where he made 49 starts.

In the classroom, Bleeker is working towards his master's degree in sport administration. He earned his undergraduate degree in communications from the College in May 2015.
