“Griffin Week” is next week, and the Canisius athletic department wants your support.

On Monday, Feb. 22, the College will begin its annual “Griffin Week” celebration, which coincides with the men and women's basketball home doubleheader against longtime rival Niagara. Those games will be played on Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Koessler Athletic Center. The women's game tips off at 5 p.m., with the men's game starting at 8 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

In an effort to move “Griffin Week” to the world of social media, Canisius athletics invites all students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans to submit photos of themselves holding a sign that reads #BeatNiagara while wearing Canisius Blue and Gold through Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Fans can also submit their photos online to sports@canisius.edu. Use #BeatNiagara when posting on social media platforms to show your support for the Blue and Gold.

Fans who submit the most creative photos showing their support for the Griffs will be entered into a drawing to win Canisius prize packs and more. By submitting a photo, fans are giving Canisius College athletics permission to post the images on the school's official athletic department social media accounts and website. Deadline for submission to be entered into the prize drawing is 5 p.m., Eastern time on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016. Prize winners will be announced through various social media platforms and through GoGriffs.com on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at noon.
