Kevin Bleeker Named to MAAC All-Academic Team

Canisius junior Kevin Bleeker has been named to the 2014-15 MAAC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team, the conference office announced Friday evening. Bleeker, a 6-foot-10, 230-pound center is the only Canisius player to make the league's top academic unit.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

Bleeker closed out the 2014-15 regular-season having played in all 29 games, where he made six starts. The Alkmaar, Netherlands native averaged 4.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game this season, highlighted by his double-double effort in the win over Fairfield Feb. 27, where he scored a season-high 15 points to go with a career-best 13 boards. Since joining the starting line-up Feb. 13, against Rider, Bleeker is averaging 9.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.

In the classroom, Bleeker, a communications major, has earned his undergraduate degree. He is currently working toward his master's degree at Canisius in sport administration.
