The Golden Griffins Track team is set to travel to New York, N.Y., to compete in the 2015 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Championship will take place at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center and will begin at 3:00 p.m.
Canisius will be competing against Iona, Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth, Quinnipiac, Rider and Saint Peter's. The Griffs enter the weekend Championship after having a week off to prepare. Canisius last competed in the YSU Invitational on Friday, Feb. 6 - Saturday, Feb. 7.
Last season when the Griffs competed in the Championships, the team set four school records at the time including the distance relay medley team of Michael Anvelt, Cooper Roach, Travis Jordon and A.J. Stuver, who finished in second in the event with a time of 10:12.78, breaking the school record by more than 11 seconds.
Jeff Antolos broke his school record in the 5,000-meter run by over 15 seconds last season, finishing in fifth place and Chad Maloy also competed in the event, taking ninth place last year.
The women set a school record in the distance medley relay, with the team of Haley Keene, Brandi Pettit, Jamie Wallace and Catherine Phillips finishing in fourth place with a time of 12:38.83.
Last season Monmouth took both the men's and women's titles.
