Team Canada
Dan Coates, Defender
Canisius Stats: 50 GP, 6 points, 4 goals, 2 assists, 113 gb, 40 ct (2008-11)
Honors: 2011 All-MAAC First Team
Mearns on Coates:
“Dan is just solid and is a defender you can rely on. He's fundamentally sound, not flashy and just gets his job done. He knows what his role is and just goes to work. It's exciting for Dan to play with some players that have name recognition but he has always been at the same level as them. We just expect that workman-like effort from him. He is a great fit for Team Canada.”
Angus Dineley, Goalie
Canisius Stats: 42 GP, 13-16 record, 306 saves, .528 sv pct., 9.63 GAA, 94 gb (2004-07)
Honors: 2007 MAAC All-Tournament Team
Mearns on Dineley:
“Angus is a pure stopper. He is a little unorthodox but stops the ball. We're going to Colorado with three goalies on our roster and he's battling right now for a position. He is a player that knows the game really well. He was an alternate in 2010 but he's a phenomenal goalie that we're looking forward to evaluating more along with the other tenders.”
Adam Jones, Midfielder
Canisius Stats: 44 GP, 129 points, 98 goals, 31 assists, 73 gb, 33 ct (2008-11)
Honors: 2008 USILA All-American; 2008, 2009, 2010 All-MAAC First Team; 2008 MAAC All-Tournament Team
Mearns on Jones:
“Adam is a guy that is going to be able to put the ball in the back of the net for us. He was Rookie of the Year with the Colorado Mammoth after graduating from Canisius. He sees the game at a different level. He can find seems and he can create on his own. Adam is very unselfish player and we will rely on him for his offensive ability. I feel like he is going to be a great player during this championship and one that will make others take notice.”
Jason Levesque, Assistant Coach
Canisius Stats: 47 GP, 6 points, 5 goals, 1 assist, 101 gb (2001-04)
Mearns on Levesque:
“I'm really excited for Jason. It has been a dream of his to compete at that highest level. He was great in his four seasons playing at Canisius and started to become a student of the game then. So he decided to go into coaching. I knew that he was going to be successful because I knew that work ethic that he has always had. His spot on our staff is well deserved and he is a phenomenal coach. He'll bring a lot to the table from a defensive standpoint and will help manage the box.”
Matt Vinc, Defender
Canisius Stats: 52 GP, 10 points, 4 goals, 6 assists, 258 gb, 42-112 f/o (2002-05)
Honors: 2005 All-MAAC Second Team
Mearns on Vinc:
“Matt is going to be one of our veterans and one of our leaders. He has helped the Rochester Knighthawks to a three-peat as a goaltender. He's been, in my opinion, the best goalie in the National Lacrosse League. He then plays close defense for Team Canada. He's a phenomenal athlete and has a lot of intangible qualities. He has the will to win. We're definitely going to rely on him because he is a veteran and he's been a part of this team twice before. He knows what it takes to win and how it feels to lose. We're going to count on him to teach a lot of our younger players.”

Team Germany
Simon Giourmetakis, Attack
Canisius Stats: 51 GP, 114 points, 77 goals, 37 assists, 46 gb, 9 ct (2009-12)
Honors: 2011, 2012 All-MAAC First Team
Mearns on Giourmetakis:
“I'm pumped for Simon. He put his time in here at Canisius and helped lead us to a conference championship. He was drafted in the NLL but hasn't been able to crack the roster in Edmonton. I know he is going to do wonders for Germany. Simon is going to be that premier left-handed attackman for them. I think he is going to have a phenomenal world championship and surprise a lot of people. I know that he is really excited to be playing for Team Germany.”

Team Iroquois
Travis Hill, Midfielder
Canisius Stats: 27 GP, 20 points, 15 goals, 5 assists, 45 gb, 33-76 f/o (2003-04)
Mearns on Hill:
“Travis has a great opportunity to play on a phenomenal Iroquois Nations Team. I'm looking forward to play against Travis and the Iroquois Team because of the challenges that they present. Travis spent a couple of seasons at Canisius and was always a competitor for us. He took face-offs and was a good two-way player. He then made it with the Minnesota Swarm of the NLL and has always been a player that has continued to develop his game. I'm excited for him to play for his nation and at this championship.”

Team Belgium
Brendan Murphy, Defender
Canisius Stats: 36 GP, 73 gb, 18 ct (2009-12)
Honors: 2012 MAAC All-Tournament Team
Mearns on Murphy:
“It's exciting that as a player and as an assistant coach for us looking to make his name in the sport that Brendan is going to be involved on this stage. He is going to have to develop relationships and chemistry quickly with a lot of players that he is unfamiliar with. He's a phenomenal close defender that is hard off the ground. His knowledge of the game is terrific. I think he is going to bring a lot of the table for Team Belgium. I couldn't be happier for him and it's been great to see him really train in his spare time to be this world-championship athlete.”
