Five Rowers Named CRCA Scholar Athletes

The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association named five members of the Canisius College rowing team scholar-athletes in the program's first year of eligibility for the honor.

The award is presented to student-athletes who maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for their career, be at least a sophomore and have competed in 75 percent of the team's events.

Meghan Martin (criminal justice), Allison Braun (environmental studies), Lizabeth McKinney (psychology), Lynna Paradiso (political science) and Elizabeth Reinwald (management) were honored by the CRCA.

McKinney, Paradiso and Reinwald were previously honored this season as members of the Varsity Eight that won MAAC Crew of the Year, and earned MAAC Crew of the Week four times this spring.

Martin and Braun competed on the Second Varsity Eight that earned a silver medal at the MAAC Championship.

Reinwald has been a member of the Blue and Gold since the inception of the rowing program in the fall of 2011. McKinney, Paradiso and Martin came to Canisius as junior transfers.

Braun was a four-year member of the women's basketball team prior to rowing this past spring.
