A pair of Canisius women's soccer players were named First Team All-WNY All-Stars by Upper 90 magazine on Tuesday. Sophomore defender Tara McPherson and Senior forward Brianna Smith were those honored by the publication.
Smith scored eight goals and recorded five assists during her senior season, ending her career with the second-most goals (37) and fourth in points (84). Smith led the team in goals, shots (75) and points and tied for the team-high in assists (5) in 2013. It's also the second year in a row Smith has been named a First Team All-WNY All-Star.
McPherson played a very diverse role for the Griffs in 2013, starting the season along the backline and then shifting to play midfield later in the season. McPherson was one of two players on the Canisius roster to start all 21 games.
