Quinn earned MAAC weekly accolades after leading the
Canisius College women's lacrosse team to a win in its conference opener. Carly
was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Tori picked up Rookie of
the Week honors.
The sisters led the Griffs to a 17-9 victory over Manhattan,
helping Canisius open its defense of its MAAC title with a win in the
conference opener. Carly recorded a game-high seven points in the victory,
netting two goals and matching a career best with five assists. Tori
contributed in a number of areas for the Griffs, recording a season-high four
points on two goals and two assists, while adding two draw controls, two caused
turnovers and two ground balls.
The only multiple winner this season of the MAAC Offensive
Player of the Week award, Carly Quinn picked up the honor for the third time
this season. The senior leads the Griffs with 37 points and 21 assists this season,
while ranking third on the team with 16 goals. She leads all players in the
MAAC with 4.11 points per game and 2.33 assists per game, while also ranking
14th nationally in assists and 25th in points.
Quinn has continued her climb up the Canisius record book
throughout the 2012 season. She now ranks fourth in the program's history with
162 career points, sixth with 92 career goals and second with 70 career
assists. The weekly accolade is the sixth for Quinn during her career.
Tori Quinn was named the conference's Rookie of the Week for
the second time this season. An all-around player during her freshman
campaign, Quinn has totaled 12 points, eight goals, four assists, 14 draw
controls, 11 caused turnovers and 11 ground balls in nine games.
Canisius continues MAAC play this week with a road contest
at Siena on Wednesday. First draw between the Griffs and Saints is set for 3
p.m.
