Morrison Listed on Hobey Baker Ballot

Senior goaltender Dan Morrison of the Canisius College hockey is among the players nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, handed out to the nation's top player.

Fans can vote for the player they believe deserves the award by visiting hobeybaker.com and clicking the Vote for Hobey icon (click here). The first phase of voting ends March 4 and the list will narrowed to 10 semifinalists with the second phase of voting beginning on March 16.

Morrison enters the weekend with career-best numbers in goals against average (2.45) and save percentage (.924) to anchor the Canisius defense this season. The senior has been even better in Atlantic Hockey play, leading all goaltenders with a .951 save percentage and ranking second with a 1.62 goals against average.

The London, Ontario native has saved his best for the third period during the 2011-12 campaign. In the final frame, Morrison owns a 0.83 goals against average and .973 save percentage.

For his career, Morrison has accumulated 2,636 saves and is quickly approaching the school's standard. Morrison is just 135 stops shy of Bryan Worosz's mark of 2,771 saves, accomplished from 2001 to 2005.

Morrison and the Griffs return to the ice on Saturday, hosting Connecticut in an Atlantic Hockey matchup. Canisius and the Huskies are set to battle at 7:05 p.m. at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
