Canisius
College men's basketball player Greg
Logins has been named to the ninth-annual Division I-AAA
Athletic Directors Association (ADA) Scholar-Athlete Team. Logins is one of 11
Division I men's basketball players from across the country to receive this
honor.
Men's
basketball student-athletes from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions
were eligible for this prestigious award. Each of the nominees are required to
have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.00 scale, and the
student-athlete needed to be a starter or important reserve with legitimate
athletic credentials.
Logins,
who earned his undergraduate degree in physical education in May 2010, boasts a
grade point average of 3.48 in sport administration at the College. On the
court, Logins closed out his career in Blue and Gold as the 30th
player in school history to score more than 1,000 career points, and he leaves
the program as just the fifth player in school history to score more than 1,200
career points while pulling down 750-plus career rebounds. A Preseason All-MAAC
choice before the 2010-11 campaign, Logins averaged 11.8 points and 6.0
rebounds per game in 30 games played last season, and he ended his senior
season ranked second in the MAAC with his 45.4 percent effort from behind the
3-point line. In addition to ranking 15th all-time in career scoring
(1,269 points) and fifth in career rebounds (758), he leaves the Golden
Griffins ranked sixth in career 3-point field goal percentage (38.2 percent),
seventh in career 3-point field goals (136) and 10th in career
free-throw shooting percentage (76.2 percent).
Logins is
the second Canisius student-athlete to earn recognition from the ADA in the
last two seasons, as former Griff Frank
Turner was named to the Division I-AAA (ADA) Scholar-Athlete Team as an honorable
mention a year ago. Logins joined with Fairfield's Ryan Olander as the only two
players from the MAAC to be named to this year's team.
