  • The Canisius College women's basketball team concludes its four-game road stretch at five-time defending league champion Marist on Monday night.
  • Canisius is playing a ranked team for the seventh time in program history and for the first time in conference play. It's the first matchup against a ranked team since Nov. 27, 2007, at No. 22 Notre Dame. Canisius has lost each of the previous six games.
  • Marist and Canisius are playing for the 11th time in the last four seasons, having met in the postseason each of the last three seasons. 
  • In the last seven years, Canisius is the only team other than Marist to win the league's postseason tournament.

  • Monday's game is the second of three straight Canisius games that are part of the WBCA Pink Zone's initiative. The WBCA Pink Zone, in its fourth year, initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
  • Canisius holds the NCAA Division I record for consecutive games with a made 3-pointer, having made a 3-pointer in 509 consecutive games.
SCOUTING THE GRIFFS
  • Senior Micayla Drysdale ranks second in the Canisius career record books in 3-point field goal percentage at 37.4 percent. Drysdale has made two or more 3-pointers in 53 games in her career.
  • The Binbrook, Ontario native ranks fifth in program history with 175 career 3-point field goals and is also the MAAC's active leader in the category.
  • Drysdale has a 1.29 assist-turnover ratio in 67 career MAAC games.
  • In conference play, freshman Jamie Ruttle, a two-time MAAC Rookie of the Week, is tied for 15th in the MAAC in scoring (10.5) and has scored eight points in 12 of the last 14 games.
  • On the season, Ruttle is first among MAAC freshmen in scoring (9.4) and is tied for second in rebounding (4.8), averaging 6.1 rebounds in the last seven games.
  • Junior Steph MacDonald is shooting 47.6 percent on two-point shots in MAAC play this season and 53.5 percent inside the arc in her career against conference opponents. 
  • MacDonald has at least one steal in 18 games, three or more assists in eight games, seven or more rebounds in eight games and 37 offensive rebounds in the last 15 games.
  • Freshman Jen Morabito, a two-time MAAC Rookie of the Week, ranks second among MAAC freshmen in scoring at 8.8 points per game and is first in 3-pointers made (38).
  • Morabito is fourth in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (37.6), making at least one 3-pointer in 18 of 20 games and multiple 3-pointers in 10 games overall.

MARIST SCOUT
  • Marist enters Monday's game with a 22-2 record, having won 18 straight games.
  • The Red Foxes have won 18 of their last 19 home games and haven't allowed more than 52 points in the last 12 games overall.
  • Senior Erica Allenspach leads the team and is tied for fourth in the conference at 13.2 points per game. Allenspach is also second in the MAAC in field goal percentage (49.5) and sixth in assists per game (2.7).
  • Junior Corielle Yarde is eighth in the MAAC in scoring (12.3) and leads the team in rebounding (5.2)
  • Ten Marist players average double-digit minutes while the Red Foxes have used the same starting lineup the entire season.
  • Marist ranked first in the country in fewest turnovers per game (10.9), fourth in scoring defense and 11th in free-throw percentage.
  • Marist leads the conference in 11 statistical categories, including defensive rebounding percentage (72.4), but ranks ninth in offensive rebounding percentage (29.9).
  • Brian Giorgis is in his ninth season at Marist and has a 216-64 career record. The Red Foxes have won six MAAC Championships and have won at least a share of seven-straight regular-season titles.
SERIES HISTORY VS. MARIST
  • Canisius and Marist are meeting for the 36th time overall, with the Red Foxes leading the series 22-13.
  • Marist has won 13 of the last 14 meetings between the teams.
  • Marist has won four of the last six years between the teams in Poughkeepsie, with the last Canisius win coming in a 68-60 win on Feb. 6, 2009, in front of a sold-out McCann Center.
  • Canisius and Marist have met in the postseason in three straight years and in five of the last seven years. The last Canisius postseason win came on March 6, 2005, a 60-59 win in the MAAC Championship game. Marist has eliminated Canisius in each of the last three years.
RECAP OF LAST MEETINGS
  • Marist held a 48-30 rebounding advantage, including 20 offensive rebounds, to defeat the Canisius College women's basketball team 59-40 in the Koessler Athletic Center on Kid's Day on Jan. 14.
