  • The Canisius College women's basketball team, looking for its first home win of the season, returns to the Koessler Athletic Center to take on Colgate on Sunday afternoon.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFS

  • Sophomore Jamie Ruttle, the 2011 MAAC Rookie of the Year leads Canisius in scoring (10.8) and has scored eight or more points in 20 of the last 26 games. Of Ruttle's 24 rebounds, 12 are offensive rebounds.
  • Sophomore Jen Morabito, a MAAC All-Rookie Team selection, has made 12 of the team's 22 3-point field goals this season. Morabito has made three or more 3-pointers in three games.
  • Junior Allison Braun, the team's captain for the 2011-12 season, is shooting 75 percent from the field in the last two games. Braun tied her career high with seven rebounds at Maryland Eastern Shore on Nov. 21.
  • Junior Ashley Durham has 18 assists in the opening five games and is seventh in the MAAC in assists per game (4.0). Durham also ranks eighth in the conference in free-throw percentage (78.9).
  • Junior Melissa Gardner has started six of the last seven games (two MAAC Championship games and opening four games this season) and had a career-high three assists against Towson.
  • Sophomore Jen Lennox has scored six or more points in 11 of the last 14 games, including seven of the last eight games. The 6-foot-3 forward has a block in 20 career games, including two blocks against Bucknell on Wednesday.
  • Sophomore Courtney VandeBovenkamp returned to the lineup against Eastern Michigan after missing the first three games of the season due to injury. VandeBovenkamp had five or more rebounds in 15 games as a freshman.
  • Junior Ashley Wilkes has at least five rebounds in four of the team's games this season and has recorded at least one steal in each game. Wilkes is averaging 12.5 points per game at home.
  • Freshman Kayla Hoohuli is shooting 60 percent on two-point shots while fellow freshman Brooke Angelos is averaging 8.8 minutes.

SERIES HISTORY VS. COLGATE

  • Canisius owns a 22-12 lead in the all-time series with Colgate.
  • Canisius is 15-1 in 16 all-time meetings between the teams in Buffalo.
  • Canisius defeated Colgate 70-65 in Hamilton, N.Y. last year. The Griffs built a 21-point first-half lead and held off the Raiders' comeback attempt. Ashley Durham had 12 points, Courtney VandeBovenkamp had 10 points and Jen Lennox had nine points and nine rebounds.
  • The last meeting between the teams in the Koessler Athletic Center came on Nov. 12, 2007, a 78-33 Canisius win.

  • Of Colgate's nine losses, five have been single-digit losses. 
  • Junior Jhazmine Lynch leads Colgate at 16.1 points per game. Lynch is shooting 46.2 percent from behind the arc and also has 17 steals in nine games. Lynch is averaging 19.0 points in the last four games.
  • Colgate is shooting 32 percent on 3-pointers and is holding its opponents to 27.5 percent from behind the arc.
  • Freshman Mariah Jones is averaging 9.1 points per game, totaling 18 points against Sacred Heart and San Diego.
  • Colgate has a -10.0 rebounding margin, a 28.4 offensive rebounding percentage and a 57.8 defensive rebounding percentage.
  • Colgate is averaging 57.9 points per game while giving up 67.2 points per game. The Raiders are averaging 18.4 turnovers per game and shooting 69.6 percent from the free-throw line.
