A total
of nine members of the Canisius College cross country program have been
named to the MAAC All-Academic Team as announced by the conference
office on Friday afternoon. Of the nine Golden Griffins selected for
their excellence in the classroom and on the race course, six were from
the men's team and three came from the women's squad.
This is
the second straight year, nine Golden
Griffins have been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, tying the mark
for most
in program history.
On the
men's side, senior Jonathan McDonald and
Mark Kearney earned their third-straight MAAC All-Academic
honors. For
the
second consecutive year, juniors Alex Simon and Aaron Hoven
were chosen
as
honorees. Sophomores Richard Looby and Nate McCabe
received their first
selections.
For the
women, seniors Julie Dahlkemper and Jill
Shea were selected to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the third
straight
year
while sophomore Mikelle Cala earned her first selection.
To be
eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a
student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.2 grade point average (on a
4.0
scale) and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
