Nine Griff Runners Earn MAAC All-Academic Honors

A total of nine members of the Canisius College cross country program have been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team as announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon. Of the nine Golden Griffins selected for their excellence in the classroom and on the race course, six were from the men's team and three came from the women's squad.

This is the second straight year, nine Golden Griffins have been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, tying the mark for most in program history.

On the men's side, senior Jonathan McDonald and Mark Kearney earned their third-straight MAAC All-Academic honors. For the second consecutive year, juniors Alex Simon and Aaron Hoven were chosen as honorees. Sophomores Richard Looby and Nate McCabe received their first selections.

For the women, seniors Julie Dahlkemper and Jill Shea were selected to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the third straight year while sophomore Mikelle Cala earned her first selection.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.2 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
