Canisius College men's lacrosse coach Randy Mearns announced the addition of seven newcomers to the 2011 Golden Griffin roster. The 20 newcomers hail from four states and provinces and look to contribute to the Griffs' success this season.

"This new class is very skilled and very talented," Mearns said. "They all have a ton of upside and while it may be difficult to crack the starting lineup this season, they will push everybody at every position in practice. I'm excited to work with them every day as they are the future of our program."

The Griffs return 24 letterwinners and six starters from the 2010 team that finished tied for third in the MAAC standings. Canisius opens the season on Feb. 19 with a road trip at No. 20 Bucknell.
