The
Golden Griffin captain in each of the last two seasons, Peter MacDougall has signed with the
Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL. MacDougall played with the Canisius
College hockey from 2006 to 2010.
"I
am extremely grateful for the opportunity that Canisius College and the hockey
program has given me over the past four years," MacDougall said. "The College
and program are both surrounded with a number of great individuals, who made my
journey a pleasure, and Canisius has been a great stepping stone in my
development both on and off the ice. Looking forward, I am extremely excited to
take the next step in my career and I am looking forward to making the most out
of whatever opportunities I am privileged with along the way."
In
his four-year career, MacDougall appeared in 128 games, totaling 27 points,
eight goals, 19 assists and a school-record 398 penalty minutes. During his
senior campaign, MacDougall recorded eight points, three goals, five assists
and two game-winning scores.
A
leader both on and off the ice, the two-year captain earned the team's
Community Outreach Award in each of his four seasons. MacDougall was also named
to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team in each of his final three seasons.
"Peter
was a leader for our hockey program and it is great to see him continue his
playing career," said Canisius head coach Dave
Smith. "I am confident Peter will be loved on the ice and in the community
by teammates and fans. His hard, driving style will be exciting for the fans of
Greenville to see."
During
the 2009-10 campaign, MacDougall helped the Griffs to one of their most
successful seasons at the Division I level. Canisius won its most games in nine
years and advanced to the Atlantic Hockey Semifinals for the first time since
2004.
