Former Golden Griffin standout and recent graduate Josh Heidinger has continued his
successful hockey career in the professional ranks. Heidinger finished his
first run at the pro level by helping the Cincinnati Cyclones to the Kelly Cup
as champions of the ECHL.
In 10 playoff games, Heidinger totaled six points on three
goals and three assists. In his first career postseason game at the
professional level, Heidinger scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 overtime
victory.
Canisius' all-time leading scorer, Heidinger set school
records with 137 points and 95 assists during his four years with the Golden
Griffins. As a senior, Heidinger set career highs with 39 points, 11 goals and
28 assists during the 2009-10 campaign.
Heidinger is one of four Griffs to sign professional
contracts after the season. Carl Hudson
singed with the Rochester Americans of the AHL, while Dave Cianfrini played for the Victoria Salmon Kings and Jason Weeks was a member of the Bakersfield
Condors of the ECHL.
