Canisius College freshman Alshwan Hymes will be out for approximately two weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2 guard has played in 19 games this season where he is averaging 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest. He started five games this season for the Golden Griffins and has scored a season-high nine points two different times, most recently against Bowling Green Dec. 12.

Canisius is currently 11-12 overall and 6-6 in the MAAC. The team will return to action Friday, Feb. 5, when the team meets long-time rival Niagara on the road. That game can be seen live on Time Warner SportsNet, with the live audio provided through the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network.
