Reinwald Named Co-Offensive Player of the Year; Smith Earns Rookie of the Year Honors

Baltimore, Md. - Junior, Kelly Reinwald and freshman Brianna Smith headlined the annual MAAC postseason awards banquet held at Loyola University in Baltimore md. Friday night as Reinwald was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year along with Loyola's Nicole Shiro, and Smith took Rookie of the Year honors.

Reinwald ended her junior campaign with 34 points recording 11 goals and 12 assists totaling 34 points for the season. She ranked eighth in the country and first in the MAAC with her point-total in 2010. Meanwhile Smith was a downright prolific goal-scorer in her freshman term tallying 14 goals and five assists for 33 points. She ranked first in the MAAC in rookie goal-scoring and second in the MAAC in total points.

The conference also announced their All-MAAC First and Second Team awards and All-Academic honorees for 2010. The Golden Griffins had several players earn All-MAAC First Team honors as both Smith and Reinwald were named to the team as well as teammate, junior Jenny Griffin. Griffin quietly put together a strong season compiling six goals and eight assists for a total of 20 points. Griffin was one of the team's clutch-performers this season as she was tied for the team-lead in game-winning-goals (3) including an overtime marker to defeat nationally-ranked Siena.

The Griffs also had a player named to the All-MAAC Second Team and the All-Rookie Team. Senior Kasey Makowski took home All-MAAC Second Team honors while Smith earned a hat-trick by being named to the All-Rookie Team. Makowski was second on the team in assists tallying nine helpers this season, including two assists that led to overtime goals.

The Blue and Gold also had nine players make the MAAC All-Academic team. Three seniors received the honor as Camille Blum, Laura Ellis, and Makowski were all named to the conference's top academic unit. This is the third time Blum and Ellis have received this honor, while it's first such award for Makowski.

The seniors were joined by juniors Christina Franceschi, Dina Gabrielli, Christina Gullo, Caroline Robert and Reinwald along with sophomore Emily Paquette. This is the second time that Franceschi, Gullo, Robert, and Reinwald have received the award while, Gabrielli and Paquette are first-timers to the All-Academic squad.

The women's soccer team continues their quest for the program's first MAAC Championship when they battle the Rider Broncs on Friday Nov. 5 in Baltimore, Md. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
