- Canisius continues its three-game homestand against crosstown rival Buffalo in the Koessler Athletic Center on Wednesday.
- Canisius and Buffalo are meeting for the 34th time. The Golden Griffins have won seven straight over the Bulls in the series.
- Freshman Jamie Ruttle was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Monday. It's the second time in program history that Canisius has had two freshmen named MAAC Rookie of the Week in the same season (1996-97).
- Sophomore Ashley Durham had career highs with 22 points and six rebounds in Saturday's win. Durham is third in the MAAC in scoring (14.0) and tied for second in assists (4.0).
- Senior Micayla Drysdale is the MAAC's active leader in 3-point field goals (156) and is the program's all-time leader in 3-point field goal percentage (39.5).
- Drysdale is playing in her 100th career game tonight.
- Seventh-year coach Terry Zeh needs three wins to become the program's all-time leader in career victories. Zeh has 106 and would pass Sister Maria Pares (108).
- Canisius is currently tied for the NCAA Division I record for consecutive games with a made 3-pointer, having made a 3-pointer in 489 consecutive games. Iowa State has tied Canisius as the Cyclones have played six games so far this season.
SCOUTING THE GRIFFS
- Senior Micayla Drysdale is the program's all-time leader in 3-point field goal percentage, ranking first at 39.5 percent. Drysdale has made two or more 3-pointers in 48 games in her career.
- Drysdale ranks second in the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage (50.0) and leads the MAAC in free-throw percentage (1.000).
- The Binbrook, Ontario native ranks fifth in program history with 156 career 3-point field goals and is also the MAAC's active leader in the category.
- Drysdale has appeared in all 99 games in her career, playing in her 100th game tonight.
- Sophomore Ashley Durham has set a career-high in two of the last three games, highlighted by a career-high 22 points and six rebounds in Saturday's win against Towson.
- Durham ranks third in the MAAC in scoring (14.0) and is tied for second in assists (4.0).
- Dating back to last season, Durham is averaging 10.6 points during the last nine games. She has scored double-figure points in three straight games for the first time in her career.
- Junior Steph MacDonald returned to the floor in the season opener on Nov. 12 for her first game action since Dec. 2, 2009, against Albany. MacDonald missed the final 25 games of the 2009-10 season with a shoulder injury.
- MacDonald has scored at least seven points in three of the team's four games this season.
- Freshman Jen Lennox has grabbed nine rebounds in each of the last two games. Lennox is tied for ninth in the conference in rebounds per game (6.3).
- Freshman Courtney VandeBovenkamp is shooting 63.6 percent from the floor in the last three games.
- Sophomore Allison Braun leads the team in field goal percentage (53.8) and is shooting 70 percent on two-point field goals.
- Freshman Jamie Ruttle had career highs with 11 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes against Towson on Saturday. Ruttle is shooting 58.3 percent in the last two games.
- Sophomore Melissa Gardner returned to the lineup against Binghamton, her first game action since Jan. 3, at Marist. Gardner missed the last two months of the 2009-10 season with a foot injury.
- Sophomore Whitney Ellenor has a block in 17 of the last 23 games and has scored nine points in 20 minutes this season, making all five of her free-throw attempts.
- Canisius has won the rebounding battle in three of four games this season.
- Six of the seven Canisius players who are averaging 16 minutes or more per game are shooting 40 percent or better from the field.
BUFFALO SCOUT
- Buffalo enters Wednesday night's game with a 3-3 record after splitting its two games in the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic.
- Senior
Kourtney Brown, the reigning MAC Defensive Player of the Year, leads
the team at 21.5 points and 12.2 rebounds per game to go along 19 blocks
and a 58.1 field goal percentage.
- Junior
Brittany Hedderson leads the team with 11 3-point field goals, the only
Buffalo player to make more than five 3-pointers on the season.
Hedderson is averaging 14.8 points per game and has 27 assists and 14
turnovers.
- All five of the Buffalo players averaging 21 minutes or more are either juniors or seniors.
- Ashley
Zuber is averaging 5.6 assists per game and the senior point guard has a
2.4 assist-turnover ratio while averaging 30 minutes per game.
- Buffalo
has a +2.2 scoring margin, +6.7 rebounding margin and -2.7 turnover
margin. The Bulls are making 5.5 3-point field goals per game.
- Linda Hill-MacDonald is in
her sixth season at Buffalo and has a 53-102 overall record.
Hill-MacDonald has also coached at Minnesota, South Carolina and in the
WNBA with the Cleveland Rockers.
LAST TIME OUT VS. BUFFALO
- Getting a drawn charge from Brianna Lucas and a game-winning 3-pointer from Micayla Drysdale, the Golden Griffins defeated Buffalo 59-56 at Alumni Arena on Dec. 5, 2009.
- Lucas took the charge with 1:12 remaining with the Griffs down 56-54. Canisius came down the court and Drysdale nailed a 3-pointer with 48 seconds left to give the Griffs a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
