Freshman
forward Brianna Smith (Buffalo, N.Y.)
earned her third MAAC Rookie of the Week award as she closed out her freshman
campaign recording two goals and one assist this past weekend.
Smith
led the offensive charge against the Saint Peter's Peahens on Sunday afternoon
as she tallied her 13th and 14th goals of the season
while adding a helper en route to a 6-0 victory. Smith had a prolific offensive
season for the Griffs as she as she is now tied for second with Sheila
Wagensiel (1991) on the all-time rookie-scoring charts netting 14
rookie-tallies. In addition she is tied for ninth in the country in
point-scoring as she finished the season with 33 on the season. This is the
fourth time in 2010 that Smith has received MAAC recognition, earning three
MAAC Rookie of the Week Awards and one Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Women's
soccer earned the first-seed in the 2010 Chick-Fil-A MAAC Women's Soccer
Tournament recording their best conference record in program history going
7-2-0 against MAAC foes. The Golden Griffin's will head to Baltimore Md. for a
semifinal match against Rider on Friday Nov. 5. Game time is scheduled for 3
p.m.
