Canisius College senior Marie Warner (Hamilton, Ont.) earned Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division I National Player of the Month Honorable Mention honors for the month of December, the WBCA announced today.

Warner averaged a team-best 18.5 points per game to go along with 7.6 rebounds per contest during the month of December when the Golden Griffins went 7-1. The 5-foot-11 forward had five 20-point games during the month, highlighted by a career-high 25 points in the Golden Griffins come-from-behind overtime victory at Rhode Island Dec. 22. Warner also set career highs with 12 rebounds (in 21 minutes) in a win over Detroit Dec. 28, five steals in a win over Youngstown State (Dec. 17) and six assists in a win over Siena (Dec. 5).

Courtney Paris of Oklahoma was named the WBCA Division I National Player of the Month for the fifth time in her collegiate career.

The Canisius College women's basketball team, on a seven-game winning streak, returns to the court on Friday. The Golden Griffins take on Manhattan with tipoff set for 5 p.m.
