Jones and Team Canada Advance to U-19 Semifinals

Canisius College men's lacrosse standout Adam Jones continues to bring success to his teams during the 2008 year. Jones has helped the Canadian Under-19 National Team advance to the semifinals at the 2008 ILF U-19 Men's Lacrosse World Championship.

In five games during group play, Jones has totaled nine goals, helping Canada to a 4-1 record. Canada has outscored opponents 107 to 45 and suffered only an overtime setback to the United States, 16-15, nearly handing the U.S. its first-ever defeat at the championship.

Next up for Jones and Team Canada is the Iroquois Nationals on Thursday in the semifinals. Jones helped lead Canada to a 15-12 victory over the Iroquois Nationals during group play with a team-best three goals. The Owen Sound, Ontario native also tallied a hat trick in the 26-7 victory over England.

The winner of Canada-Iroquois Nationals game advances to play the winner of the United States and England contest on Saturday in the Championship Game.

Jones became the first Canisius player to earn All-America honors during his rookie campaign in 2008. A first-team All-MAAC selection, Jones posted a team-best 47 points and 38 goals while helping lead the Griffs to its first NCAA Tournament plus a school-record 10 wins.
