Le Moyne Defeats Women's Lacrosse

The Canisius College women's lacrosse team lost to Le Moyne on Sunday afternoon, 15-5. With the loss, Canisius falls to 6-6 on the season, while the Dolphins improve to 9-4.

Junior Ashley Gray led the Griffs with three points on two goals and an assist, while sophomore Brett Poissant (pictured) also tallied two scores in the defeat. Freshman Emily Maguire posted two points on a goal and an assist and classmate Taylor Gray added an assist.

Freshman Allison Daley recorded 15 saves in goal.

The Dolphins scored the first two goals of the afternoon and never looked back. Poissant brought the Griffs to within one with her first goal of the day but Le Moyne tallied the next four scores. After Maguire netted a goal, the Dolphins would score four more times to take a commanding 10-2 advantage. The Griffs would score three of the final four goals of the first half but could not find the back of the net in the second frame. Le Moyne added four more scores en route to the 15-5 victory.

The Griffs return to conference action on Friday, hosting Marist in a key conference game. First draw at the Demske Sports Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Game Notes: Senior Erica Nasca became the first Griff to record her 100th career draw control ... Ashley Gray has scored at least one goal in all 12 games this season ... All four Griffs to post a point are from the Syracuse area ... Canisius finished its non-conference schedule with a 6-5 record ... The Griffs were shutout in a half for the first time since March 25, 2006, when they failed to score in the second half against No. 10 Notre Dame.
