Alan McGreal to Play for Kalamazoo Outrage

Canisius College men's soccer player Alan McGreal (pictured) will spend his summer playing for the Kalamazoo Outrage of the Premier Development League (PDL), Outrage head coach Stu Riddle recently announced.

The PDL is the top amateur division of the United States Soccer Leagues. Players in the PDL compete during the summer in a professional setting while still maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The Outrage will play in the Midwest Division of the Central Conference against teams from Chicago, Fort Wayne (Ind.), Grand Rapids (Mich.) and South Bend (Ind.).

McGreal led all Canisius players with 33 points on 12 goals and nine assists during the 2007 season. His 33 points in a single season ranks third best in school history and his 1.65 points per game ranked 10th in the country at the Division I level. McGreal will enter his junior season in the fall ranked eighth in career points (49), tied for seventh in career goals (18) and tied for seventh in career assists (13). His career points per game average of 1.36 is tops in program history among players with 30 career games played.

“We quite literally have scouts looking out for us all over the world,” Riddle said. “I was informed of [McGreal] by our New York-based contact and after studying game tapes, I knew immediately that he would come in and help us.”

The Golden Griffins went 8-12 overall and 5-4 in the MAAC in 2007, setting school record for overall wins in a single season and conference victories in a campaign. The Blue and Gold will return 18 letterwinners from last year's team, including four of the team's top five point scorers.

The Outrage will open the 2008 season Friday, May 16, when the team plays host to the West Virginia Chaos.
