Using 11 3-pointers and 24 assists

on 29 made baskets, the Canisius College women's basketball team

defeated Mount St. Mary's 77-62 in the Koessler Athletic Center on

Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Griffins improve to 9-4 overall and have

won six straight and eight of their last nine.

Junior Ellie Radke had a career-high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds in 22 minutes. Senior Marie Warner led all players with 23 points while pulling down a team-high nine rebounds. Senior Amanda Cavo had four 3-pointers for the second consecutive game while junior Brittan? Russell had eight assists for the second straight game as well.

“We didn't shoot the ball great today, but we battled hard on the glass to get offensive rebounds,” Canisius coach Terry Zeh said. “We're doing a great job of taking care of the basketball and finding open shots. Now we need to carry this over to conference play, starting with Niagara on Sunday.”

Similar to Sunday's win over Detroit, the Griffs would break open the game midway through the first half. Holding a 14-13 lead with just under 12 minutes remaining, the Griffs went on a 15-3 run and held the Mountaineers to one basket for a stretch of 6:07. During the Canisius run, Radke had four points while Cavo, Micayla Drysdale and Brianna Lucas each made 3-pointers.

The Mountaineers responded with five quick points, but Canisius scored 11 of the next 14 points, including four points from Tasia Lee and were up 40-26 at the half.

Down 54-40 with 13:10 left in the game, Mount St. Mary's scored seven consecutive points to get as close as seven on a layup by Leah Westbrooks with 10:42 remaining. The Griffs regained control of the game by scoring eight straight points. Warner began the stretch with five straight points and then grabbed the rebound off her free-throw miss. Warner fed Radke, who converted a three-point play to put Canisius up 62-47.

Brianna Gauthier and Sandra Andresson led Mount St. Mary's (5-6) with 13 points apiece while Westbrooks had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Canisius plays its next three games on the road, starting at Niagara on Sunday. Game time in Gallagher Center is set for 2 p.m.
