Men's Basketball Tripped Up at Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Four Marist players had double figures in the scoring column, led by Ryan Stilphen and Jay Gavin, who scored 13 points apiece as the host Red Foxes dropped Canisius College 66-44 Sunday afternoon in the McCann Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

The win at home was Marist's 13th straight and improved the team to 14-7 overall and 8-2 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action, while the Golden Griffins dropped to 3-17 overall and 1-9 in MAAC play with the loss.

For Canisius, sophomore Frank Turner scored a team-high nine points to go with five rebounds, five assists and three steals, but the Blue and Gold shot 25.9 percent from the field and allowed Marist to score 21 second-chance points off 13 offensive rebounds.

From there, Marist used a 19-5 run over a span of 7:15 to take a 23-17 lead with 7:26 left before the half, capped by a 3-pointer by reservfe Ryan Schneider from the right wing.
