Former Women’s Soccer Standout Rossi Returns as Goalkeeper Coach

Fromer Canisius women's soccer standout Alana Rossi '20 has returned to her alma mater as the goaltending coach for the program, head coach Ryan Louis announced.

"Alana was an exceptional goalkeeper during her time at Canisius and the impact she made on this program speaks for itself," Louis said. "We are thrilled to welcome her back to Canisius and add someone with her experience, knowledge and winning mentality to our coaching staff. She knows what it means to wear the Canisius jersey and I'm excited for her to help our current players grow, both on and off the field."

A four-year member of the program (2016-19), Rossi started all 70 games played during her time with the Golden Griffins, amassing 26 wins, 10 ties and a program-record 24 shutouts.

The school's career record holder for minutes played (6062:81), Rossi fashioned a career save percentage of .775, highlighted by a school-standard setting .808 save percentage during her senior campaign.

Rossi's 1.30 career goals against average ranks as the third best in program history while her 26 career victories are second most among Canisius keepers. Her nine clean sheets during her sophomore season in 2017 stands as the program standard for shutouts in a single campaign and her 300 career saves places in seventh place on the school charts.

A two-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, Rossi is a two-time graduate of the University. She earned her undergraduate degree from Canisius in 2020 before completing her master's degree in business administration in 2021.

Canisius (1-1-0) returns to action Sunday when it travels to Little Three rival St. Bonaventure. Kickoff for the non-conference contest between the Griffs and Bonnies is slated for 1 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex in Olean, N.Y.
