The Mountaineers improved to 7-8 overall on the season and 2-2 in the MAAC. The Golden Griffins fell to 3-10 overall and 0-1 as they started conference play.

Alex Mendes and Joey Agar recorded two hits and four RBI each to highlight a potent lineup for The Mount lineue that totaled 15 hits and saw every member of the starting lineup record at least one hit. Max McCrary earned the win in relief for the home team, tossing 1.2 hitless innings while striking out four, while JB Manarchuk recorded his second save of the season, allowing just one hit over 3.0 innings of work.

Senior Felix Morin was charged with the loss, allowing 11 runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings of work to fall to 1–2 on the season.

The Griffs opened the scoring in the second inning as senior Andrew Marcello lifted an RBI double down the right-field line to plate the game's first run. Brown followed with an RBI single up the middle, giving the Griffs an early 2-0 lead.

The Mountaineers responded in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run from Ty Fredo, cutting the Griffs' lead in half.

Bremner extended the Griffs' cushion in the third with a two-run home run to left-center, pushing the Canisius advantage to 4–1.

Mount St. Mary's chipped into the Griffs' lead in the bottom half of the third as Alex Mendes doubled down the line to score one, followed by a sacrifice fly from Bryce Rudisill that cut the deficit to 4–3.

The Mountaineers broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring nine runs on eight hits, including three home runs in the frame. Mendes sparked the rally with a three-run shot, followed by solo homers from Rudisill and Joey Agar, while back-to-back singles later in the inning pushed the Mount St. Mary's lead to 12–4.

The Mount extended their lead to 13–4 with a wild pitch in the sixth inning before Canisius made a push with a six-run seventh. Redshirt junior Thomas Zwirecki delivered a two-run single to open the scoring in the frame while senior Mason Cisco added an RBI single with the bases loaded, while Marcello and Brown each drove in a run to cut the deficit to 13–10.
