The Towson offense strung together 12 hits and worked 12 walks at the plate to secure a 16-7 victory over Canisius in collegiate baseball action Sunday at John B. Schuerholz Park in Towson, Md.

The Tigers improved to 5-4 on the young season as they avoided being swept in the three-game series while the Griffs fell to 2-7. Jacob Whiteman earned the victory in relief, pitching 3.2 innings and striking out four. Sophomore Noah Albano took the loss for Canisius, giving up three hits and four runs in two-thirds of an inning of relief.

The Griffs jumped on Towson in the top of the first as redshirt freshman Bennett Cox launched a solo home run to open the contest before junior JC Spinosa followed with an RBI single later in the frame to give Canisius a 3-0 lead.

The Tigers got two runs back in the bottom of the third on a two-run single up the middle from Brian Heckelman to make it one-run game.

Redshirt sophomore Justin Bremner added to the Griffs advantage in the top of the fourth, plating a run on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded that brought home freshman Grady Brown to push the lead to 4-2.

Towson moved in front in the following frame, using a two-run double from Nick Lobello with the bases loaded, along with two walks to take a 6-4 lead.

The Griffs surged back in front in the sixth, scoring three runs on a wild pitch, an RBI single from Cox and a bases-loaded walk by redshirt junior Thomas Zwirecki to make it a 7-6 ballgame.

The Tigers' offense continued to strike in the bottom half of the sixth, stringing together four hits to plate four runs, highlighted by a triple from Keldrin Rodriguez and a double from Yariel Rodriguez to take a 10-7 lead.
