Hockey Unable to Solve Robert Morris in Series Opener

Charlie Schenkel stopped all 36 shots he faced and Dominic Elliot scored the only goal of the game to lift Robert Morris to a 1-0 victory over Canisius in Atlantic Hockey America action Friday at Clearview Arena in Moon Township, Pa.

Schenkel posted his second shutout of the season for the Colonials (8-16-3, 8-9-2 AHA), turning aside a game-high 15 shots in the first period to keep the game scoreless before Elliott opened the scoring moments before the midway point of the contest when his shot from the right point deflected off a Canisus defender and into the goal.

The Golden Griffins (14-11-2, 9-8-2 AHA) pushed for the equalizer during the final frame but were unable to solve Schenkel as the Colonials held on for the one-goal victory.

Sophomore Petter Wickström Stumer got the start in goal for the Golden Griffins and made 24 saves.
