Jones, Regan Selected as Student-Athletes of the Month for January

Canisius indoor track senior Brody Jones and rowing sophomore Katie Regan have been chosen as the Milk for Life Canisius Student-Athletes of the Month for January, the athletic department announced on Friday.

A native of Holland, N.Y., Jones has led the way for the Golden Griffins during the indoor season. Jones opened with a first-place finish in the one-mile run at the SPIRE Institute Midwest Open on Jan. 24, posting a time of 4:15.80. The following week, Jones captured another victory in the 1000-meter run at the YSU Mid Major Invitational, setting a school record with a time of 2:27.53 and breaking the previous mark set by James Bialasik in 2001.

A digital media arts major at Canisius, Jones was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team in 2025.

A native of East Aurora, N.Y., Regan was a member of the second varsity eight boat that placed first at the Yinzer Cup to open the fall season on Oct. 11. Regan was also named to the FSN Watchlist, recognizing the nation's top collegiate rowers.

A political science major, Regan was named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll in 2025.

The fall 2025 semester saw Canisius student-athletes post a cumulative grade point average of 3.50, the 10 straight semester with a departmental cumulative GPA of 3.40 or greater.

In addition, all 21 of the Golden Griffins' varsity intercollegiate athletic programs fashioned a team cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher, with 18 squads exceeding a 3.30 cumulative GPA.

The fall semester also featured a total of 69 student-athletes earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Those 69 student-athletes highlighted a group of 374 student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher, representing 85% of the University's total student-athlete population.
