Forcucci Wins Two Weekly Conference Awards

Freshman Ella Forcucci was named the Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Player and Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Forcucci won the duo of awards for the second consecutive week after she tallied eight goals and five assists, helping the Golden Griffins to wins over Eastern Michigan and Akron to improve to a 4-0 mark to start the 2026 campaign.

Forcucci netted five goals while dishing out two assists in a 19-12 home win over Eastern Michigan before notching her fourth consecutive hat trick to start her collegiate career in the team's victory at Akron on Feb. 21. She is the first Canisius player since 2005 to record three-or more goals in each of her first four collegiate contests. Forcucci ranks fifth in the country in total goals (17) and ninth in goals per game (4.25), leading all freshmen in both categories.

Canisius continues a three-game road trip at Louisville on Feb. 24. Game time is scheduled for noon at U of L Stadium in Louisville, Ky., and the contest will stream on ACC Network Extra.
