Golf Closes Out Bluejay Invitational

Junior Mikey Takacs shot a two-over par score of 74 to earn a tie for 39th in the field as the Canisius golf team closed out its trip to the Bluejay Invitational Tuesday at Shawdow Ridge Country Club in Omaha, Neb.

As a team, Canisius placed 11th in the field with a tournament score of 914. North Dakota State won the team portion of the event with a score of 847, which was six strokes better than host Creighton and St. Thomas, who finished in a tie for second.

Takacs was the Golden Griffins' top individual performer with his three-round score of 222. Fellow junior Jake Dantonio placed 57th in the field with his 54-hole score of 228.

The golf team will return to the course Sept. 24, when the team plays long-time rivals Niagara and St. Bonaventure in the 70th edition of the Little Three Golf Championship. This year's event will be played at the Niagara Frontier Golf Club in Youngstown, N.Y.
