Dantonio Shoots Career Low in Golf's Final Fall Round

Canisius senior Jake Dantonio fired a career-low 67 to earn a tie for 53rd as the Golden Griffin golf team closed out the 2026 fall season at the final round of the Bucknell Invitational, played Tuesday at Bucknell Golf Course in Lewisburg, Pa.

As a team, Canisius finished 13th our of 18 teams in the field with a two-round team score of 573. The Griffs finished one stroke behind Mercyhurst and Binghamton, which tied for 11th and five strokes back of 10th place Bucknell.

Dantonio's three-under par score of 67 serves as his career low, and it also marked his first collegiate round in the 60s. Starting his round on the 10th hole, Dantonio recorded a pair of birdies in his first nine holes, and then capped his round with a birdie-4 on the par-5 ninth hole. His 67 on Tuesday allowed him to move 45 spots up the leaderboard.

Sophomore Cole Thompson was the Griffs' top individual performer, as he finished tied for 35th with his two-round score of 142. Dantonio and fellow senior Mikey Takacs tied for 53rd with their tournament scores of 144, while graduate student Matthew Santini tied for 67th with a 36-hole score of 146. FDU's Angad Singh won individual medalist honors with his score of 130, which was 10-under par.
