Golf Posts Strong Showing in Second Round of Bluejay Invitational

Four Canisius golfers carded second-round scores in the 70s, led by junior Jake Dantonio's even-par 72, and the Golden Griffins posted a second-round team score of 294 to close out the first day of the Bluejay Invitational, hosted Monday by Creighton at Showdow Ridge Country Club in Omaha, Neb.

Dantonio's even-par round featured five birdies, and it allowed the Lancaster, N.Y., native to move up into a tie for 42nd in the field after he shot a 77 in the first round on Monday. Fellow junior Mikey Takacs shot a 73 in the second round and sits tied for 33rd in the tournament after he carded a 75 in round one. Takacs is tied with eight other golfers in 33rd place after two rounds, including freshman teammate Cole Thompson, who shot 73-75.

As a team, Canisius sits in 11th place, seven strokes back of 10th place Northern Colorado. North Dakota State leads the team portion of the tournament with a two-round team score of 563, which is 13-under par.
