Day One of MAAC Softball Championship Rained Out

Inclement weather in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., has officially washed out the first day of the 2025 MAAC Softball Championship, league officials announced Tuesday.

The updated schedule for the eight-team tournament now includes four games on Wednesday, starting with the event's two single-elimination games. Rider will play Quinnipiac at 9 a.m., on Wednesday, followed by the fifth-seeded Golden Griffins taking on Sacred Heart at 11:30 a.m. The winner of the day's first game will play No. 3 seed Iona at 2 p.m., and then the day will conclude with the Canisius-Sacred Heart winner taking on fourth-seeded Siena at 4:30 p.m.

All games in the 2025 MAAC Softball Championship will be played at Marist's Gartland Park in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Marist earned the right to host this year's championship tournament after winning the league's regular-season title.

Canisius enters the conference's postseason tournament having won four straight, including a doubleheader sweep of Sacred Heart on May 2. The Griffs (25-24, 15-10 MAAC) are making their fifth straight and 27th all-time appearance in the MAAC Softball Championship field.
