Rumley Named to All-MAAC First Team; 15 Tabbed to All-Academic Team

Senior infielder Trent Rumley was awarded First Team All-MAAC honors as the league's best utility man as the conference announced its baseball regular-season award winners on Monday.

Rumley started 44 of the 45 games for the Golden Griffins this season, getting playing time at shortstop, third base and second base. The Cowlesville, N.Y. native turned in a stellar season at the plate as he posted career highs and led the team in nearly all hitting categories this season, including batting average (.347), home runs (10), doubles (13), runs (37), hits (59), RBI (43), slugging percentage (.612) and total bases (104).

Rumley also ended the season with a 10-game hitting streak, his second 10+ game hitting streak of the season. On April 8, he was tabbed MAAC Player of the Week for his 7-for-10 performance at Marist, where he drove in seven runs and hit two home runs.

The MAAC also released the Baseball All-Academic Team on Monday, which saw 15 Golden Griffins make the list.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.2-or-better on a 4.0 scale and have been at their current academic institution for two full semesters.
